As a way of monitoring the success and creating awareness of the benefits of the ALIAT Project, AWEPON carried out a one day sansitization workshop with ALIAT women in May. ALIAT is a livestock initiative by AWEPON in partnership with Send a Cow. It seeks to strengthen rural women's participation in livestock farming and contribution to household economy through sensitization of rural communities on the importance of livestock farming.
During this sensitization workshop beneficiaries from this project testified on how ALIAT project had benefited them through improving their household incomes and improved their nutrition levels.
In linking up with the Women at the grass roots, AWEPON was able to call for government attention to address women's concerns especially with regards to goals 3, and 5 of the MDGs. It provided women with an opportunity to engage with lower local governments and also identify their own strength in addressing poverty. The ALIAT Project file PDF
